IonDrops filtered high-pressure shower head with replaceable mineral cartridge

How we answer these questions

Answers come from the product itself, our own fulfilment and support records, and the questions customers actually email us. Where we cannot back a claim — hard-water softening, chloramine, anything medical — we say so instead of hedging. Reviewed September 2026.

Will it fit my shower?

IonDrops replaces the shower head itself. If your current head unscrews from the arm or hose, IonDrops screws on in its place.

Will IonDrops fit my shower?

Yes, if your shower head screws onto a fixed arm or a handheld hose. IonDrops uses the standard 1/2-inch threaded connection found on the overwhelming majority of showers worldwide, and a rubber washer plus thread tape are in the box.

Which showers is it not suitable for?

Shower systems where the head is moulded into a rail bar or ceiling arm with no threaded joint, and electric or instantaneous heater units where the head is fixed to the unit's own hose fitting in a non-standard way. If you cannot unscrew your existing head by hand, IonDrops is not the right product for that shower.

Does it work with a handheld hose?

Yes. Unscrew the handheld head from the hose and screw IonDrops on instead. The hose keeps working exactly as before.

Does it work with an electric shower?

Only where the head unscrews from a standard threaded hose. Electric showers heat water on demand and run at lower flow, so the spray will feel less forceful than on a mains-pressure shower. If you rely on an electric unit and are unsure, contact us before ordering.

What about low-pressure or gravity-fed systems?

IonDrops narrows the nozzle openings, which raises exit velocity, so most low-pressure users notice a genuine improvement. On very low gravity-fed systems with a tank only slightly above the shower, results vary — the 90-day guarantee is there for exactly this reason.

Does it need tools or a plumber?

No. Unscrew the old head by hand, screw IonDrops on, hand-tighten. It takes about a minute and is completely reversible, which makes it renter-friendly.

What spray modes are there?

Three: rainfall for everyday showers, jet for fast rinsing, and massage for shoulders and neck. Twist the collar to switch between them.

What finish is it?

A chrome-look finish designed to sit alongside standard chrome shower fittings. It is a moulded body with a stainless mesh screen and silicone nozzle tips, not solid metal.

Can I use it on more than one bathroom?

Yes, and that is why bundles exist. The 2-pack is $55.90 with free shipping, and the 3-pack brings it to $19.99 per head.

Filtration: what it removes and what it doesn't

Two stages do the work: a stainless mesh screen and a replaceable mineral cartridge. Here is exactly what that covers.

What does the filter remove?

The stainless mesh screen captures rust, grit and pipe scale. The mineral cartridge reduces fine sediment plus chlorine taste and odour. Together they keep visible debris out of your shower water and out of the head itself.

Does it soften hard water?

No. Only an ion-exchange softener plumbed into your mains removes dissolved hardness minerals. IonDrops reduces sediment and soap film and keeps scale from building inside the head, which is why many customers describe the water as feeling softer — but the hardness itself is unchanged.

Does it remove chloramine?

We do not claim chloramine reduction. Chloramine is far harder to treat than free chlorine and needs a much larger contact-time filter than any shower head can provide. If your utility uses chloramine, expect sediment and rust reduction rather than a change in smell.

Will it work on well water?

It helps most with visible sediment, sand and iron staining, which is common on well supplies. It is not a treatment for bacteria, nitrates or dissolved minerals, and it does not replace whole-house treatment where that is needed.

Is the water safe to drink?

No. IonDrops is not a drinking-water purifier and should not be used as one.

How often do I change the cartridge?

About every four weeks with daily use, sooner on heavily sedimented supplies. Change it when it looks grey, brown or orange, or when flow starts to soften. Replacement 2-packs are $14.99.

Can I always get replacement cartridges?

Yes. Cartridges are stocked as a standard 2-pack on this site and can be added to any order or bought on their own later. Unused cartridges keep indefinitely in their sealed wrap, so buying ahead is fine.

Can I rinse and reuse a cartridge?

You can rinse loose surface grit off, but the media loads up internally and rinsing will not restore it. Once flow softens or the colour changes, fit a fresh one.

Does it work without a cartridge fitted?

Water will still flow, and the mesh screen still catches larger debris, but you lose the sediment and chlorine-odour reduction. Keep a cartridge in it.

Are health benefits claimed?

No. IonDrops is a household filtration and flow accessory, not a medical device, and we make no medical, dermatological or hair-growth claims.

Pressure, flow and water use

The most common question we get is whether adding a filter costs you pressure. It does not.

Will a filter reduce my pressure?

Not with IonDrops. The nozzle plate uses narrowed laser-cut openings, so exit velocity rises and the spray feels stronger than the head it replaced, even though total flow through the head is lower.

Does it save water?

It is designed for up to about 30% less water per shower compared with a standard head, which also cuts the energy used to heat that water.

Will it feel too harsh?

Switch to the rainfall mode for a softer, wider spray. Jet is the most forceful of the three and is best kept for rinsing shampoo.

Why did the spray get weaker after a few weeks?

That is the normal sign of a loaded cartridge. Open the face, inspect it, and fit a fresh one if it is discoloured. Also run a thumb over the silicone nozzle tips to clear deposits.

Is it noisy?

It is a high-velocity spray, so it sounds a little crisper than a wide low-pressure head. It does not whistle or rattle when the washer is seated correctly.

Skin, hair and everyday results

We keep this section deliberately careful. What we can talk about is water quality and how showering feels — not health outcomes.

Will it help my dry skin or hair?

We cannot promise that, and we will not. What IonDrops changes is the water: less sediment and rust, less chlorine smell, and less soap film clinging to skin and hair. Customers commonly report that shampoo lathers more easily and rinses cleaner. Anything framed as a treatment for a skin or scalp condition is a claim for a doctor, not a shower head.

Will it stop limescale spots on my glass?

No. Spotting comes from dissolved hardness minerals, which IonDrops does not remove. It does keep scale and sediment from clogging the head.

Will it help with chlorine smell?

In most municipal supplies that use free chlorine, yes — the cartridge reduces chlorine taste and odour. On chloramine-treated supplies, expect little change in smell.

How soon will I notice a difference?

The change in spray strength is immediate, from the first shower. Water-quality differences such as less soap film and easier rinsing are usually described within the first week or two.

Is it safe for children and pets?

It is a standard household shower head with a replaceable cartridge. Keep spare cartridges out of reach as you would any household consumable.

Is IonDrops legit, and where should I buy it?

A fair question for any product you first met in an ad. Here is how to buy safely.

Is IonDrops legit?

Yes. This site is the official IonDrops store. Orders are taken through Stripe, one of the largest payment processors in the world, every order gets a confirmation email and tracking, and every purchase is covered by a 90-day money-back guarantee on the product price.

Is IonDrops a scam?

No, and the way to check is the same for us as for anyone: look for a real returns window, a real contact route, a mainstream payment processor and clear claims. All four are on this site, and we state plainly what the product does not do.

What is the official website?

getiondrops.com. Anything else claiming to be an official IonDrops outlet is not one.

Is it sold on Amazon, Walmart, Costco or Home Depot?

No. IonDrops is sold direct only. Selling direct is what keeps the bundle prices where they are, and it means we can honour the guarantee ourselves rather than relying on a third-party seller.

How do I spot a fake listing?

Fakes usually mimic our photos but change the price, drop the 90-day guarantee, ship from an unrelated marketplace seller and give no working support address. We cannot verify, support or refund anything bought outside this site.

Who is behind IonDrops?

Ordering, support and returns are handled by our own team through this store. You can reach us any time through the contact page and we answer most messages within one business day.

Are the reviews on this site real?

The quotes we publish come from customers who bought through this store. We do not buy reviews, invent names, or claim endorsements, ratings or awards we have not received.

Prices, discounts and tax

All prices are in US dollars and are the same wherever in the world you order from.

How much does IonDrops cost?

One shower head is $29.99 plus $4.99 shipping. Bundles include free worldwide shipping and bring the price down to as little as $17.49 per head.

Which bundle is the best value?

The 3-pack at $59.97 is the one most customers choose: it is $19.99 per head, ships free, and covers a family bathroom, an ensuite and a spare. If you only have one shower, the single is the sensible start.

What currency are prices in?

US dollars. Your bank converts at its own rate if your card is in another currency.

Do you have a coupon or discount code?

The bundle pricing on this page is the discount — there is no better hidden code. If you do hold a valid promotion code, there is a field for it at checkout.

Do I pay sales tax, VAT or GST?

Any tax due for your delivery country is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay, so the total you confirm is the total you are charged.

Will I be charged customs or import duties?

For most destinations no additional charge applies. A small number of countries levy import duty on parcels regardless of value; that is set by your own customs authority, not by us, and we cannot waive it.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Is it a subscription?

No. Every order is a one-time purchase. Cartridges are reordered whenever you want them, with nothing recurring.

How much does running it cost?

Cartridges are $14.99 for two, which is roughly $7.50 every four weeks — a little under $0.25 per day of daily showers.

Shipping and delivery

We ship worldwide with tracking from our fulfilment partner.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, with tracking. Shipping is free on orders of two or more shower heads and $4.99 on single units.

How long does delivery take?

Orders leave in 1–2 business days and typically arrive in 5–12 business days depending on destination. Remote areas and customs checks can add a few days.

Will I get tracking?

Yes. You receive an order confirmation immediately and a tracking link once the parcel leaves the warehouse.

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

If the parcel has not shipped, yes — reply to your confirmation email or use the contact page and we will update it before dispatch.

Can I cancel an order?

Yes, before it ships — contact us and we will cancel and refund in full. After dispatch, use the 90-day return instead.

My tracking has not moved. What now?

Tracking can sit quiet for a few days while a parcel crosses borders. If there is no movement for seven days, contact us and we will chase the carrier or reship.

What if my parcel is lost or arrives damaged?

Tell us with a photo where relevant and we will replace it or refund it. You are not left out of pocket for a delivery failure.

Do you ship to PO boxes or forwarding addresses?

PO boxes are usually fine. Freight forwarders are at your own risk, because we cannot track or guarantee a parcel once it leaves the forwarder.

Returns, refunds and the guarantee

You have 90 days from delivery, and the head can be used in that time — that is the point of it.

What is the guarantee?

90 days from delivery for a full refund of the product price, with no restocking fee. Try it in your own shower on your own water; if it is not for you, tell us.

Do I have to return it unused?

No. A filtration product you cannot test is worthless, so a fitted and used head is still covered.

How do I start a return?

Reply to your order confirmation or message us through the contact page with your order number. We reply with return instructions.

How long do refunds take?

We process refunds as soon as the return is confirmed. Your bank then typically takes 3–10 business days to show it.

Is return shipping free?

Return postage is the customer's responsibility unless the item arrived faulty or damaged, in which case we cover it.

Are used cartridges refundable?

Unopened cartridge packs are refundable within the same window. Opened cartridges are consumables and are not.

Is there a warranty as well as the guarantee?

The 90-day money-back guarantee is the commitment we publish. If a head develops a manufacturing fault beyond that window, contact us — we look at those case by case rather than pretending a blanket promise we have not published.

Installation, care and troubleshooting

Almost every issue people write in about is one of these three, and all are fixable in a couple of minutes.

It drips at the connection — what now?

Unscrew it, check the rubber washer is seated flat inside the nut, add a turn of the supplied thread tape and hand-tighten again. Do not use a wrench, which can crack plastic threads.

My old head will not unscrew.

It is usually seized by limescale. Wrap the nut in a cloth for grip, turn anticlockwise firmly, and if it still holds, wrap the joint in a descaler-soaked cloth for an hour and try again.

Some nozzles are not spraying.

Rub the silicone tips with a thumb under running water to pop the deposits out. If a whole zone is dead, the cartridge is likely blocked — fit a fresh one.

How do I clean the shower head?

Wipe the nozzle tips monthly with a thumb or soft cloth. There is no need to soak the head in descaler, because the cartridge keeps most scale-forming sediment out of it.

Can I use bleach or strong cleaners on it?

No. Mild soap and water only. Harsh chemicals can damage the silicone tips and the finish.

Can I take it with me when I move?

Yes. Nothing is permanent — unscrew it, refit your landlord's original head and take IonDrops with you.

Where do I find full installation steps?

The step-by-step installation guide walks through the whole process, including stuck heads and a troubleshooting table.

Gifts, bulk and business orders

Multiple bathrooms, family gifts and small properties are common reasons people order more than one.

Can I buy several as gifts?

Yes, and bundles are the cheapest way to do it. Each head arrives in its own retail box with the washer, thread tape and cartridge inside.

Do you do larger quantities for rentals or guest houses?

If you need more than the largest bundle, contact us with the quantity and destination and we will quote you directly.

Can I order cartridges on their own?

Yes. Cartridge 2-packs are $14.99 and can be ordered separately or added to any shower-head order at checkout.

Can I get an invoice for my business?

Yes. Your Stripe receipt works as proof of purchase, and we can issue an itemised invoice on request through the contact page.

What IonDrops does not do

We would rather lose a sale than mislead you. IonDrops does not remove dissolved calcium and magnesium, so it is not a water softener and will not stop hardness spotting on glass. It is not a drinking-water purifier, and we do not claim chloramine reduction. It makes no medical, dermatological or hair-growth claims, and it is not a medical device. What it does is capture sediment and rust, reduce chlorine taste and odour, keep scale out of the head, and deliver a stronger-feeling spray on less water.

Still have a question?

Contact our support team — we answer most messages within one business day. You can also compare every bundle on the pricing page, read customer reviews, follow the installation guide, check the official website details, or go straight to the store and choose your bundle.
